CARLOS PONCE

Carlos Ponce Freyre was born September 4, 1972 in Santurce, Puerto Rico.  His parents had emigrated from Cuba after the overthrow of the Batista regime. In Puerto Rico Carlos grew up performing and his family moved to Miami in 1986.  He had won an award for best actor in the Southeastern Region and a scholarship to the New World School of the Arts conservatory, but he chose instead to take a job on Univision as the host of a show. From there he was cast in the soap opera Guadalupe and next Sentimientos Ajenos. Carlos hasn't slowed down since making it big and is a favorite hunk on several continents, thanks to the wide appeal of Univision's programming.

Carlos clearly started off with no disadvantages in the looks department, but I must say that as he got older and older he got purtier and purtier!

Carlos is also a singer and was signed by Emelio Estefan. His albums have hit #1 in the Latin music markets and he has had three #1 songs. Still I can think of a variety of things I'd rather put in front of his face than a microphone. *ahem*

In 2009 Carlos outshined some of Hollywood's funniest stars including Vince Vaughan, Jon Favreau, Faizon Love and Jason Bateman, in the unnecessary comedy Couples Retreat. The film milked a lot out of Carlos' character as a sexy Latin man in a Speedo, which was its only true redemption. However, as with so many Hollywood films dominated by such actors, it not only failed, but seemingly refused to let Carlos show off his best assets.
