FAB 40+ ESAI MORALES

I've got a confession to make: I love Hispanic men. I don't mean love. I mean LOOOOOVE!  From Central Texas all the way down to the Falkland Islands, throughout the Caribbean, and covering the Iberian Peninsula and other parts of the world, there seems to be a raven-haired beauty among the men that is unmatched elsewhere. Since the United States is a melting pot, we get a wonderful cross section, and the Latin men do rock, as does today's Friday pick....

ESAI MORALES

Esai Manuel Morales was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 1, 2012. His family is of Puerto Rican descent. His parents are devoutly blue collar with his mother is a union activist for the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union, and his father a welder. His career got its true start at the School of Performing Arts in Manhattan, made famous in the movie Fame, and interestingly, Esai would get to play a role in the TV series that was made from that film.

Oh, I think my suit fetish just got a kick start!

I want to kiss Esai and whoever decided that shirt's top 4 buttons should be undone...
whom I am guessing is the same person.

Esai had gotten his start in the movie Forty Deuce, which was a semi-autobiographical film by Paul Morrissey. Esai played a fairly decent sized part for his first film. From there he did the   Sean Penn film Bad Boys, not to be confused with the Will Smith film of the same name.  He would work in small parts before making his mark as Ritchie Valens' ne'er do well older brother in the huge hit La Bamba

From there Esai was a welcome presence in many a movie. One could make the point that he was the MTV Generation's first real Latin Heartthrob.

No zebras were killed for the following pictures...

....but my heart may have skipped a few beats!

One of Esai's crowning achievements was his actin in the beautiful elegy Mia Familia....

I ask you, who else could pull of the kitschy 70s tuxedo in all its ruffled glory
and still make you want to devour him on the gift table?

 Intensely looking intense.

Esai also moved into television with the same ease with which his career seemed to start, in shows like American Family, Resurrection Boulevard, NYPD Blue, Vanished and Fairly Legal, which also start fellow Fab 40+ Michael Trucco. Oh, to be on THAT set!

What has been constant throughout Esai's career is that he has always been in fantastic shape, and he hasn't been stingy about showing us what we want to see.

In 1994 Esai starred in Rapa Nui, a film about Easter Island, assuming that someone thought that would make for an interesting movie. It takes all kinds, I suppose.

Nonetheless, it also starred the hunkulous Jason Scott Lee, and these stunning men were shown wearing loincloths throughout.  The movie was a bit of a bore, until the actors turned their backs on the camera, and then it was like the Showgirls of island culture.

I haven't done a song in a while. Let's musicalize Esai's appearance in Rapa Nui--showing off all that glorious cinnamon skin--with a paraphrase of Neil Young's Cinnamon Girl....

I wanna live with a cinnamon boy...

I could be happy the rest of my life....

....with a cinnamon boy.

A dreamer of pictures...

...I run in the night....
...you see us together....

...chasing the MOON light.....

My cinnamon boy!

Recently Esai starred in the SyFy TV series Caprica, a prequel to Battlestar Galactica.  He did some publicity events for the show first...

With fellow SyFy star and megahunk over 40, Eddie McClintock.
Hmmm, suddenly I am thinking of sandwiches....

Caprica gave us some lovely shirtless scenes with Esai...

It was in CSI Miami that we got a splendid shower scene...

And of course Esai has delighted us in a variety of skin shots...

...but nothing would please us as much as his delightful embarrassment nude scene in the film Southern Cross, in which a woman walks in on him while he's stripping down for a shower...

Very interestingly Esai has most recently been cast to play the iconic Francisco D'Anconia, the South American copper millionaire of Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged in part 2 of the film version, replacing Jsu Garcia. This is interesting because Rand's novel is the bible of conservative political philosophy in The States, and Morales in a devoted liberal, always working to raise money for political and social causes.  I haven't seen the first film yet, but since I've read the novel, I have been interested in doing so. I am a liberal myself, but I found the book to be a fascinating pot boiler, less the political rhetoric. This should be interesting.

If the breaking news isn't "I'm in love with Derek!" then I ain't interested.

ESAI MORALES:  SUITED TO ANY ROLE

  1. I've always liked him as well. I've also always liked Hispanic men. My best friend when I was a kid was Mexican/American. I haven't seen him in about 30 years, I always wonder what he is doing & what he looks like now.

  2. What? Do you have a window open into my mind or something Derek?! I've always LOVED Esai, and he's still a handsome man. He was so hot in his little loincloth in Rapa Nui, yum! And thanks to xyz for the clips--when you see Southern Cross for the first time, you understand now why you came to love Esai! ;)
